Learn To Sail and Get Qualified for Bareboat Chartering

Annapolis Bay Charters has teamed up with NauticEd, the most innovative and best sailing education governing body in the USA, to bring you the newest, fastest, and easiest way to learn to sail and qualify for chartering a boat on your own. This is a revolutionary way to get the skill sets needed to be the safest, most competent sailor possible. Once the NauticEd courses/clinics and ABC practical training are completed and passed, your certificate and accomplishments will be recognized and respected worldwide.

Here’s How it Works

The theory portion is done on-line prior to setting foot aboard a classroom yacht. Then you spend 4 days aboard a sailing yacht with a licensed, instructor Captain to complete the practical portion.

Simply take the tests for Skipper Certification Course and the additional courses leading to Bareboat Master Certification in the comfort of your home or office. Document your time afloat in your online log book, and then come to Annapolis Bay Charters and step aboard the best, most modern cruising yachts in charter today to complete the practical portion of the course.

      Skipper Course $67.50

      Maneuvering Under Power Clinic $39

      Coastal Navigation Clinic $39

      Bareboat Charter Clinic $39

Basic Rules of Right of Way Clinic – FREE

These five courses take approximately 40 hours to complete. All five courses must be passed before taking the practical. If you are unable to complete/pass all five courses before your scheduled check out, you will forfeit your place on the boat, with no refund.

At ABC we will make sure you understand ALL aspects of sailing, yacht and systems management, docking, and coastal navigation. Our standards are high and the program is concentrated, but if you apply yourself you will come away with a certification recognized by every major yacht charter company worldwide.

Please call to reserve your space for the practical instruction.

How does the NauticEd training compare with the RYA, US Sail, and ASA training?

NauticEd is the new standard in the sailing education world. With clear, concise and thoroughly up to date course materials and tests, NauticEd leaves the other institutions behind in its wake. The practical classroom is rigorous, and teaches skills and techniques that these other courses do not.
NauticEd’s clear and easy to understand materials teach you not just the theory and practical elements of sailing, but delves into how to manage the systems on modern yachts, how to prepare your boat and crew for sea, how to feed and keep them safe in a multiplicity of conditions. NauticEd is the Gold Standard!

NauticEd’s revolutionary syllabus and course treatment is unique in the way it prepares you for your practical lessons. You have as long as you need to take the tests, and are able to repeat them if necessary, and as time goes by you may revisit your courses and tests at no additional cost to reinforce your learning. The syllabus is set up in such as way that you actually learn and retain the information. NauticEd is recognized by every major yacht charter company around the world as the premiere instructional/educational system in sailing today.

This is not a guaranteed pass situation, it actually requires you understand the course material. You must be able to apply this newfound knowledge. The on-line log book gradually qualifies you as you enter your sailing/on water time. Over time logged afloat, you reach the thresholds of experience necessary to become a truly competent sailor. All of this is documented in a manner that is accessible to you and to the companies from whom you wish to charter.
